Hi friends, thanks for being here. I am excited for my first blog ever blog post on The Leadoff! I’ve been thinking about starting a blog back up for years and I’m happy I decided to finally just go for it. For as long as I can remember I’ve always loved to write and share, so I thought what the heck – let’s fire this up. Even if it’s just my parents reading lol I’m looking forward to having a creative outlet and something that is mine. I want to practice my writing skills; talk about things I enjoy and have a little space on the world wide web. With that said, welcome to The Leadoff – a casual mix of sports, motherhood and everything in between.
When thinking of blog names, I wanted something that represented both sports and my life. At almost 40 (yikes) I have realized now more than ever that you have to be the leadoff hitter of your life. As a busy working mom with two young kids, it can be extremely challenging putting yourself first and leading off for your team, but it is vital to your success and ultimately your happiness. I realized once I started leading off – my family, home, and marriage all improved. I am no expert, but I am looking forward to sharing my perspective on why leading off is of utmost importance. Utmost? Who am I? haha
Growing up with a sports nut dad it was clear to me from a young age that I either had to learn about them and get on board or be miserable with sports constantly on. Luckily, I made the right decision and I have been in love with sports ever since. There are plenty of sports forums that have all the stats and game breakdowns, but I want to talk about the people, their stories, the crowd, the walkout songs, the wives’ outfits, the scandals, jerseys, playoff and pregame hype (my personal fav) and most importantly gameday, stadium and tailgate food / drinks jk kinda 😉. I’m excited come on here and ramble about the current happenings in sports and life.
Fun fact – this isn’t the first sports geared blog I have been apart of. My college girls and I started one back in 2006. It was called The Clutch Magazine and it was awesome! I’ll have to dig up some old snippets to share. If only we stuck with that dream, right Whitney?
The Leadoff is not going to be perfect or hard hitting, but it will be fun, casual and unique. I hope you enjoy!
