The NFL season kicks off today and although I really hate summer ending, I mean realllyyyy hate it – I do enjoy the fact that football and cozy fall vibes await us with open arms. It makes it easier. There are so many interesting NFL topics to discuss before kickoff, especially in Niners news, but I thought I would talk about jerseys! Starting off with the NFC West…
Niners – I’m sure this comes as no surprise; but I truly love the red and gold! They are classic, luxe and stand out without being obnoxious. They represent greatness and it is time the Niners reclaim the helm. I am of course biased, but I think the San Francisco 49ers jerseys are up there with the best in the league. They will be rocking the 1994 throwbacks again this season and I kind of want one! The throwbacks are so nostalgic for me and of my fellow faithful. I have the best memories of watching those legends battle it out every Sunday. The Niners have the famous throwbacks on tap for their home opener Thursday September 21st vs. the NY Giants (red), Thanksgiving evening (white) against the Seahawks and get this…they will be sporting their red throwbacks on Christmas night against the Ravens! Here’s to hoping the holidays will be extra bright this season 😉

Rams – Even though I root hard against all LA teams I can appreciate the royal blue they have not to be confused with Dodger blue. I loathe that one. I don’t mind the recently upgraded blue. It feels fresh, crisp and more modern. Although I do think the jerseys are boring otherwise. I have always thought the ram horns on the helmet was kind of creative, but I do not think I would love them if I was a grown ass man playing middle linebacker with curly horns on my damn helmet, but who knows maybe they don’t mind it. Afterall, they are living out a dream in the NFL. While I understand the new-ish LA logo with the Ram horn, I think they could have done better. What do you think?
Cardinals – I grew quite fond of the Cardinals when I lived in Arizona. They had their new state of the art stadium completed in 2006 and my dear friend Ashley’s dad had season tickets, which he was generous enough to share with us. Prior to the games he would plan and prepare an entire tailgate for us in 100+ degree heat with little to no help and never complained once. Shout out to Jerrs, miss you! I’ll also never forget attending a game with Adam as one of our first official dates. His agent got us tickets in the nose bleeds lol we had a lot of fun. Anyway, back to the topic at hand, the Cardinals are debuting a new set of jerseys this season. They are a little underwhelming in my humble opinion, but they do the trick. The Cardinals haven’t had a uniform refresh since 2005 and I feel they missed an opportunity to be a lot cooler than they are. The desert is filled with so much color and inspiration. As I was writing I became curious about the Carinal namesake and color combos, so I researched it and found out that the team acquired its nickname in 1901 when its founder, Chris O’Brien, received a shipment of faded jerseys from the University of Chicago Maroons football team that were cardinal red in color. Talk about random! I do really like their Arizona font on their new jerseys. They nailed the AZ vibes with that, and the black is pretty slick. Definitely could do without the white set, which is eerily similar to the Ohio State Buckeye unis. Fans set Twitter ablaze this last Spring when the Cardinals put out the below tweet…The moment you’ve all been waiting for.? Womp, womp.

Seahawks – Hate to admit this, but I do think the Seahawks jerseys are legit. They are fun, modern and cool without trying too hard. I think that nice blue color coupled with hints of the lime green are some of the coolest colors in the league. I’m not the biggest fan of the “action green” jerseys as they refer to it, but after reading more about the story behind it I have changed my mind a bit. Turns out the lime green started from a partnership with Nike and the Seattle Children’s Hospital. What started as special game day cleats worn by players during designated “My Cause My Cleats” games morphed into an entire uniform inspired by one young patient’s drawing. Twelve-year-old cancer survivor Kira Lancaster drew a picture of herself wearing an outfit featuring both lime green and blue (the colors of her favorite football team). Her design with the help of members on her care team and Nike then became the head-to-toe lime green “color rush” uniforms. The best part is that proceeds from the sales of these limited-edition jersey go towards funding research aimed at curing childhood cancer. Also, in 2023 – to the twelfth man’s delight, the seahawks will be throwing it back to their early days with their blue and grey classics, which in part pays homage to the Kingdome.

Hope everyone enjoys the action!
