Our San Francisco 49ers are headed back to the NFC Championship game for the 19th time, more than any other team in the league. It will be their 11th time hosting and their 3rd year in a row going to the NFC Championship. 4th time in the last 5 seasons, only missing 2021. As we should all know by now, they are facing the Detroit Lions. A team who has only been to the NFC Championship once before and has never even seen a Super Bowl. The Lions are only one of four teams left in the National Football League who have never been in the big game. Their inaugural season was 1930! That is 94 years if you are bad at math. Yikes! A sad stat that will hopefully reach 100 years in 2030.
My Notes on the San Francisco 49ers…
Deebo Samuel and the state of his shoulder is obviously a big question and concern for the Niners. San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan was vague in his press conference on Wednesday simply saying that Deebo’s shoulder “still hurts.” Deebo was dressed for practice and of course dancing yesterday with the team, so that is a good sign. This morning, Shanahan listed him as a limited practice participant. The legend Jerry Rice while talking on a radio show the other day, said “I expect Deebo to be on that football field…being the competitor that he is, he’s going to be ready to play.” I believe he will be out there too. He has to, right? Hopefully he stays healthy and in the game. As we all know, he is an absolute force. I love all our 49ers but watching him play is my favorite. He is so explosive and strong. He seems to be the heartbeat of the team and I think they will need him to win. His vibes are clearly unmatched.
Brock Purdy and his inconsistency in the last game was tough to watch, with that said I think we have been a little spoiled with such solid play, especially from our rookie. He has amazed us all and dazzled when it counts the most. Yet, watching him last Sunday reminded me of 2010 Giants torture! We can only hope he is firing on all cylinders come Sunday. I think he will be back in the groove. The long break is over, the weather is looking better with a high of 71 in Santa Clara and his super star team who have had his back since he got the call last season will be behind him. It is Brock Purdy’s for the taking. Home field advantage in the NFC Championship game. LFG!
As for the rest of the gang we got Kyle Shanahan at the helm who is 5-0 in the playoffs at home, which is a wonderful statistic. Christian McCaffrey who is on a whole another level. They way to drives through players is unbelievable. Kittle and Aiyuk always come up with big plays. Jennings will be vital, especially with Deebo not being 100% and I expect Bosa, Williams and Juszczyk to handle their business as usual. Boy, are we lucky to watch this team each week. It is time these stars reach the Super Bowl.

Notes on the Lions, which of course includes WAG deets…
The Detroit Lions are coming in hot with an all-star quarterback in Jared Goff and a hardworking no BS coach in Dan Campbell. The Lions quarterback, Jared Goff is a northern California boy. He hails from Novato and played college football at Cal. He was the first overall draft pick in 2016 selected by the Los Angeles Rams. Jared Goff wears #16 as a nod to his favorite player growing up, none other than, Joe Montanna. Growing up in the Bay Area, Goff naturally was a 49ers fan. His father, Jerry Goff is a former Major League Baseball player. He played for six years with the Montréal Expos, Pittsburgh Pirates and finally the Houston Astros. Jared Goff is engaged to a total babe and Sports Illustrated model, Christen Harper. They met on the “celebrity” dating app, Raya. After reading that I was curious how much the app costs to join and it is only $9.99 a month lol According the NY Times, only about 8% of applicants are accepted to join Raya. At first, I thought signing up and meeting someone on a “celebrity” dating app seemed a little “sus” as Conor would say, but I guess they did not want to date us regular folk. I get it. From what I have seen on the internet, they are really cute together.

I share these things so that we can all fully understand that Jared Goff is no slouch. We are dealing with a quarterback who has got it going on. Jared Goof is having a homecoming in the NFC Championship with his confidence at all time high ready to shatter the dreams of his once beloved 49ers and their faithful. He has an entire city and state rallying hard behind him, including non-other than Marshall Mathers (Slim Shady) and Kid Rock. Plus, the rest of the country who is rooting for the scrappy all-time subpar Detroit underdog. Our Niners cannot afford to come out flat like week.
AFC Championship Notes…
As for the AFC Championship I think I would like to see the Baltimore Ravens win. Although, I think Taylor Swift is a nice role model and Vanessa is getting into her more I could do without seeing her the entire Super Bowl. That will hopefully be the 49ers and Usher’s day to shine. We do not need her taking away from that. On the flip side if the Ravens end up triumphant, we will not hear the end of the Harbaugh’s possibility of winning a championship in the same year. So, when it is all said and done the 2024 Super Bowl champion has to come from the NFC. Random side note: I had no idea that the “Who’s got it better than us? Nooobodddyyyyy” saying was a Harbaugh thing, not an old 49er thing. No clue. Did you? I wish I would have known that sooner. The Harbaugh’s parents are really cute though. I like them. Last thing about the Harbaughs, did you see the post-game conversation between Raven’s coach John Harbaugh and Brock Purdy? He said people tell him they look alike. Twins!

Last, but certainly not least we must discuss what we are eating! Adam suggested grinder sandwiches, which are very delicious, but I am not sold just yet. We have so much fun sending each other food reels, especially football Sunday worthy ones. We did chili last weekend and have enjoyed lots of buffalo flavored things already this season. I think I am going to try to convince him to smoke something, Maybe I will make my mom’s touchdown dip. Send me pics of what you make / eat! I mean is there anything better than couching it while enjoying food and a bevy? I hope it is a glorious day and we get to celebrate going to another Super Bowl. Bang bang!
